Writing is about revision. We’re constantly polishing our stories, honing our visions, to create the most immersive experience possible for the reader.

Every writer goes through stages in the development of their craft. It takes time, before we can spot weaknesses in our work, recognize errors in technique, and even longer before we know how to fix them. But, when we do begin to see ways in which we can reimagine our writing, revision becomes exciting.

Since writing itself is a process of revision, rife with self-reflection, why not use the month of December, to reflect on your writing life this year?

To get started, you could ask yourself…

  1. Am I writing the kinds of stories I want to read?
  2. What excites me about writing?
  3. What do I struggle with?
  4. What beliefs or fears are limiting my creativity?
  5. How can I make my writing process more enjoyable?
  6. What am I curious about and how can I infuse that into my writing?
